Core Programs engage young people in activities that enable them to reach their full potential. Clubs offer diverse program activities in five areas:

Education and Career Development

Character and Leadership

Health and Life Skills

The Arts

Sports, Fitness, and Recreation

Education & Career Club

These programs help youth create aspirations for the future, providing opportunities for career exploration and educational enhancement.  We host daily Power Hour with tutoring and homework help. The Club reviews Members grades and works with students for improvement in academic performance. The Club hosts a Career program, helping members establish what they want to be and how to get there. Community Partners and Volunteers provide special classes on different careers and necessary job skills.

Character & Leadership Club

Helping youth become responsible, caring citizens and acquire skills for participating in the democratic process is the main thrust of these programs. They also develop leadership skills and provide opportunities for planning, decision-making, contributing to Club and community and celebrating our national heritage.  The Boys & Girls Club of Evanston has adopted Cowboy Ethics: The Code of the West as our Character program.

Health & Life Skills Club

These initiatives develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and live successfully as self-sufficient adults. Members learn valuable like skills they will need for future success. We host cooking, nutrition and sewing classes, as well as SMART Moves, SMART Girls, and B.O.S.S. programs.

The Arts

Encourage youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing.

Sports, Fitness, and Recreation

Programs develop fitness, positive use of leisure time, skills for stress management, appreciation for the environment and social skills.
